Everything Wedding Invitations – The Series

Who knew it would be so complicated to create a wedding invitation? There is so much etiquette involved and special wordings, it could make a bride’s head explode! If I miss anything that you are not sure about, let me know and I’ll include it in this series.

Whether you know it or not, your wedding invitations are very important and you will want to make your decision for your wedding invitations very carefully. The wedding invitation is important because it contains the details about where your wedding guests need to be and at what time. Also, the people you invite to your wedding will make their first impressions and assumptions about your wedding based on the invitations that you send to them and your wedding invitation will be an indication to them of how formal the event is and what they might want to wear. This makes choosing your wedding invitations very important and ensuring that the information that you provide is absolutely correct.

Your invitation will also serve as a nice keepsake not only for you but for your guests as well. Because of this, you will probably not want to send something that is cheap looking or quickly thrown together. By saying that it is important to have a quality invitation that you can be proud of, I am in no way advocating having them professionally done if you don’t want to or if it’s not in your budget. You can create lovely invitations on your own with some time and effort. If having invitations printed professionally is what you want to do, there are several ways to go.

There is so much information to cover when it comes to wedding invitations that I am going to write this in a series of blogs instead of in one big one. The subjects that I am planning to cover are;

  • Choosing a Wedding Invitation Style
  • What to Say in a Wedding Invitation
  • Wedding Invitation Dos and Don'ts
  • Things to Include with your Wedding Invitations
  • How to Stuff your Wedding Invitation Envelopes
  • How to Address your Wedding Invitations

The Old Red Courthouse - A Great Dallas Wedding Location

If you ask me, the Old Red Courthouse is the best place to have a Dallas wedding.
We had both our wedding ceremony and reception at "Old Red" which is located in Downtown Dallas. We had looked and looked and looked for a place to have our ceremony and I thought we might never find a place. When we finally came across the Old Red Courthouse, we had already booked a location for our wedding reception but loved it so much that we canceled (losing our deposit) and booked the courthouse the same day. It was the perfect location for our wedding and I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out.
If you are from Dallas and don’t know which building I’m talking about, you have probably seen it and don’t realize it. The Old Red Courthouse is a reddish brown bricked building with turrets on the corners, making it look like a castle located adjacent to Dealey Plaza.

Our wedding pictures were beautiful both inside and out of the building. I wish I had taken my bridal portraits there too, but didn't. The Old Red Courthouse has beautiful architecture with elegant marble and stone entryways and an iron staircase in the middle of the building.

The Old Red Courthouse is not only beautiful and in a great location but is also a very historical building. It was built in the late 1800s and at one time served as the Dallas County Courthouse. The Old Red Courthouse had been under restoration for several years and was opened to the public again only several months before our wedding.

We rented the top floor of the 4 story courthouse which gave us and our guests access to the room where we had our ceremony, the Great Hall where our reception took place, a sizable changing room that had 2 restrooms and hangers for all of our dresses, and a fully restored courtroom that was set up for our guests to explore. Security guards are on the first flor to direct your guests up either the elevator or the staircase.

Another really cool thing about the the Old Red Courthouse is the replica of the Pegasus on the first floor. Everything about the building is just very fun and interesting and there are photo ops everywhere!

There was security present for our entire event and their event staff is really easy to work with and gave us all kinds of ideas. It was really a wonderful location and I would definately recommend it to anyone planning a Dallas wedding.
